Lauren's first dance

Saturday, Lauren attended her first dance - Elite Night. Why is it so hard to see your kids grow up? This is killing me. I'm really not ready for her to be a teenager. Will I survive? I took a picture before they left for the dance and I sent her with the camera to take some more pictures. Do you think she took any? No.

Lauren wanted her hair rolled and well I'm not that talented at hair styling, so I was a bit worried. While I was rolling her hair in hot rollers and burning my fingers, I was praying that God would help me to fix her hair. I can giggle now, but I was really needing some help. My hair styling abilities rank up there with my cooking abilities. I won't go there, but it isn't impressive.

All things considered, I think the hair turned out okay. Lauren was tickled, so that is all that mattered. She said that she had fun, but she didn't dance with any boys. :)

February already!?

Where does the time go? I figured that I need to post something since my last post was from December. We have been busy and like always, I struggle to find time to keep up with everything. On Monday evenings, I have been going to EaglePoint to exercise with Leah, Robin, and Cassie. Anyone else can join us, if you like! I am still trying to stick with my FirstPlace 4 Health plan, but I don't always do a good job. Logan and Lauren are now taking Karate lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Lindsey is still taking piano lessons on Tuesdays. Then we have church on Wednesdays, so by Friday, I'm exhausted.

Neil has made me create a FaceBook account now, so I have something else to keep up with. Just what I needed! Ha-ha! I have to admit it has been fun. I have found a very close friend from high school and several of my relatives that I haven't seen in quite some time.

Lauren went with the youth on a ski trip on January 16th and came home on the 19th. That was the longest weekend. I was not mentally prepared to send her off so soon with the youth. She and her friend Calli had a blast together. During the trip, several kids got sick with a stomach bug, one had to have stitches, and another sprained his wrist. Thankfully, Lauren was excluded from all the sickness and injuries. I was never so glad to see that bus pull into the church parking lot. So, I have survived one youth trip. How many more do I have to endure? Several - I know.

Our church, First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, purchased the Henry Farm Barn that was renovated into a restuarant several years back and later went out of business. It has been converted into a satellite campus for First Baptist Church and it is called EaglePoint. Neil is now playing in the praise band on Sunday mornings at EaglePoint and although he has been very nervous, he has enjoyed being a part of the praise team.

I think that is most of the updates for now. I will try to take some pictures next time. I know that is what most everyone wants to see anyway. :)
