No pictures, just stuff

Since school has started back, we have been very busy with homework and all the routine changes that school brings with it. Lauren is in the band and has signed up to be a "Runner" for the marching band. This means that she has to help at some of the practices and then attend the ball games on Friday nights too.

Lindsey started piano lessons with a new instructor Tuesday evening. Lindsey was nervous, but I think she is going to really like her new instructor.

Next week, Logan and Lindsey will start soccer practice. Lindsey has practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Logan has practice on Tuesdays. I'm not sure when we will eat dinner on Tuesdays, but hopefully we will figure something out. :)

U.S. Space & Rocket Center

We went to Huntsville this weekend to visit Aunt Laura and we visited the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Logan absolutely loves this place. We went twice last summer and he couldn't wait to go back this summer.

Unfortunately, my children where not in the mood for pictures, so I didn't get many good shots. Lindsey is acting silly trying to keep her hair from blowing.

This is the new Saturn V Exhibit. This wasn't there last year. Logan thought it was neat, but he was in a hurry to get to the "Kids Cosmos" area.

As you can tell, we made it to the kids area and the Logan and Lindsey had a blast! I think Lindsey and Logan rode the mini Space Shot ride twenty times or more. Unfortuantely, those pictures were blurry, so here is another silly picture of them playing.

Logan was finally big enough to do the rock climbing wall. He went right up the wall and came down like a pro. Lauren and Lindsey climbed as well.

I told Aunt Laura that she needs to go back to the museum when she can slowly walk through at her own pace and read the exhibits. The kids aren't patient enough to enjoy all that is there. It is quite an interesting place and to stand right beside one of the rockets or the shuttle is really something to see.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school and Lauren is in the 7th Grade, Lindsey in the 3rd, and Logan in Kindergarten. It was a bit emotional for me. It was Lauren's first day at the High School and Logan's first day of Kindergarten. I really wish that we had a middle school and I think that would ease my mind considerably. Luckily for me, Neil dropped off Lauren this morning and I dropped off Logan. I think it would have been too much for me to have to drop both of them off.
I was worried that Logan was going to have a hard time this morning, but he saw one of his friends from daycare and he was fine. He went right into the building holding Jaelyn's hand. All summer Logan has been telling me that he doesn't want to go to Kindergarten. When I asked him why, he said, "You know I can't read." I told him that is what he would learn in Kindergarten and he said, "Well, I really don't want to learn to read."

Once Logan got to his classroom, he found some red playdough waiting for him at his seat. He quickly sat down and started playing. He told me bye and I headed off to work. Of course, as I was walking away from the building, I had that lump in my throat and a small tear in my eye.

This afternoon I went and picked up the kids and asked how their day went. Lauren said that she had a good day, but her shoulder was hurting from carrying all her books and stuff. Lindsey said that she had a good day, but she wants to ride the bus. Logan's comment was my favorite. When I asked how he day went, he said, "Today was the longest day of my life!"

Logan is in luck - he doesn't have to go to school tomorrow. In Kindergarten, they send half the class the first day and then the other half the second day, but next week they will all go every day. Next week could be interesting!
